I've been gone a few days and I come back to all this stuff gals. I've never been hit by a man either and feel so sorry for any woman who has had it happen. I do agree we are taught to be nice and feminine when we are young. I can only think any man who hits must have a lot of problems himself with his self esteem. In our NIA classes we practice strong powerful punches. Our teacher tells us we are strong powerful women.

AREESHA, i have one question for you: Why did you put up with that bastard so long? 4 years of beating and bruises is too much... i would have dumped him after the first beating... why didnt you go to the police?

Women should do something about this kind of men! unfortunately there are a lot of them in this world... They must be stopped somehow...

I think she didn't do this because of the kid ... The older one must have been born back then and a lot of women go through this because they don't want the kid to suffer from a broken home. Not to mention that society is not yet that prepared to help them and on the other hand these bastards can sometimes be quite persuasive. I mean they act nice and seem like good guys, then they have a "rage" like that and hit their spouse, then they come back telling them it was an accident and they're so sorry.

Most of the women start to blame themselves thinking they are not OK, they did the mistake and so on. It's all an ugly psychological game and these monsters know to play it very well.

On the other hand, even if they do abuse their wives they still have enough power on them to force the silence on them. Many of the abused women are scared to talk about this since they're threatened with I don't know; more beating, killing, taking the kids from them and so on.

It's something awfuly messy and so many good women fall into this hell. And I don't blame them in the end since some really feel powerless in front of the abuser. I cannot say anything but that it's indeed a good thing to try to escape from this and that NO man should have the right to treat them this way ...

I worked with a women once and she was being mistreated. It took a long time to get her to leave and go to the women's shelter. I finally took her. Here I think most of the time alcohol is involved. She left him but not before going back to him one more time.

I know I'm a survivor too. My divorce was hard for me. I was never hit but I now know I wasn't treated the way I should have been.

I believe that also Ginny. Life has a way to throw all sorts of curves. When I was a young girl I thought all things could be perfect. As I get to this stage in my life I realize all things are connected and all thngs happen for reasons.
