Question  hysterectomies

I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids, excessive bleeding, severe anemia and pelvic and adominal pain. I am meeting with my GYN for pre-op information but wonder if anyone has any personal suggestions for pre and post op use.

RE: hysterectomies

Hello and smilie to the community Smile

I never had such an operation, but I could try and imagine what should be done prior and after it.

PRIOR:
- discuss all the details with your doctor. it's nice knowing everything you can
- make all kinds of arrangements at work (you won't be able to go to work for some time) and at home. Your family must understand that you won't be able to make efforts, so they shouldn't expect you to clean the house the day after.
- have all the stuff you need with you at the hospital
- BE POSITIVE. Nothing can be worse than what you already experienced. I read about this in other places and many women who had hysterectomies are now HEALTHY AND HAPPY. Yes, the result is a good one. Just have faith and be prepared.

AFTER:
- DO NOT MAKE EFFORT. Don't play with your health. You will be in pain (I am sure there is also good medication since you will be in a hospital. It is a serious operation and you need to take care of yourself.
- Do all you have to do, by your doctor's advice and don't force your body into recovery. We all heal in different times. Just relax and try to adjust to what your body tells you.

Overall people have excellent things to say about life after this. Many women claim they feel way better than before (with all the problems you have mentioned here) so you need to be positive and know that you will be JUST FINE.

What's the operation date? We can surely spare a prayer and a nice thought for you Smile
