Motivation to clean
Our house is a wreck, literally. I can't get the others to help me get it in shape. My granddaughter lives in the finished basement with her parents and she can't come upstairs unless she is held or in her high chair. For good lord's sake I can't even get over to the Christmas tree to take it down and it's almost March. It has been up for two freaking years. LOL I am NOT kidding folks!! We can't even eat at the kitchen table because of all the dirty dishes.

RE: Motivation to clean
Ouch, this is really tough.Don't know what to say, maybe a maid would be a good idea. Not hired all day long, but to come every 2 weeks time for instance to help a bit.
So many things to do, so little time

RE: Motivation to clean
I suggest doing just one room at a time. If other people are living in your home it's their responsibility to help you out. You could always "fine" them if they don't. Once you've cleared one room and can see what a huge difference it makes the motivation should be there to do the rest. I also recommend being ruthless and throwing away anything that you don't actually *need* to free up space.
Good luck!

RE: Motivation to clean
I agree with you Sabriel on this one ... One room at a time sounds like a great idea & definitely throwing out things that you don't need. If you haven't used it for 12 months then you probably don't need it.
Perhaps you need those ladies that have that tv show in the UK. The ones that come in and help you clean house. I can't remember the name of the show though .. how clean is your house? or something like that.
I havent lost my mind ... its backed up on disc .. somewhere

RE: Motivation to clean
I have to agree with what other suggested. One room at a time. Clean a bit every day. Even if its only for an hour. That's one hour closer to 100% clean.
I had to do this with my 3rd floor space. Im now just starting to make progress. It feels GREAT to see the floor and have things organized. I threw ALOT away too and that was satisfying.

RE: Motivation to clean
I only clean the house on saturdays. I wake up early so that no one will walk on the wet floor and newly shined stairs.
We have three floors, my room, my parent's room and 2 wooden stairs, it usually takes more than 2 hours for me to finish everything.
My strategy in cleaning a large house is divide and conquer.
